  • Her role has recently expanded into Audience Management
  • Has also taught Magazine Marketing at Centennial College
  • Holds a Double Honours degree in Mass Communication and Political Science from York University and a certificate from Ryerson in Magazine Journalism

  • Founder of Disticor, which created a much-needed outlet for Canadian newsstand publications both domestically and within the USA. Grew the company from 2-400 magazines before it was sold in 1998
  • Was a principle member in the purchase of Coast To Coast Distributing
  • In 2008, won a Canadian Newsstand Award as ‘Newsstand Marketer of the Year.’ In 2014 he received the CMC ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’

    • Works to ensure that continuing consolidation at the wholesale and retail levels does not hamper the effective distribution of CMG client titles, through all the classes of trade
    • In his previous role at CMG as Vice President, Sales, he held responsibility for wholesale operations and retail marketing on behalf of CMG and CMG clients
    • Has held various management positions in wholesale distribution and retail marketing over the course of some 19 years

  • Was Director, Government and Industry Engagement for Magazines Canada, a bilingual position she held since 2016
  • Works on government relations and advocacy, maintained critical relationships with federal decision-makers, funders, and regional associations
  • Also is responsible for Magazines Canada’s internal and external communications
  • Over the course of her 22-year career to date, Melanie has developed expertise in cultural policy, program design and administration, stakeholder relations, and strategic communications
  • From 2003–2008, Melanie was Head of the Writing and Publishing Section at the Canada Council for the Arts, where she oversaw the administration of grants and services to Canadian writers and publishers, including magazines

  • Manages Canada’s largest and most unique magazine database which combines wholesaler dealer-level sales information along with other relevant additional data
